Community Health Center – Akwaeze Anaocha

A look at Primary Health Center in Akwaeze. This building known for a very long time as Akwaeze Youth Confederacy (AYC) established in 1950. The building was offered for a place where the only health center in Akwaeze will be domiciled probably due to the fact that the group AYC is no longer functioning.
The primary health center though wasn’t in good shape for the health care services but was managed with little touches to kick off. The community were hopeful that as year goes by, the health center will reach a near standard of was it required for its purpose. With the emergence of Gosife Age Grade Akwaeze for male indigenes born within the year 1986 – 1990, the community handed fencing the health center as their community project for endorsement as an age grade in the year 2015. This project was halfway done though the age grade was able to provide a dwarf fence then install a gate with their name (Gosife Age Grade Akwaeze) inscribed on it.

In a limelight, the health center got the touch of a Non Governmental Organisation (NGO) that took responsibility for completing the already dwarf fence with barricade that one can’t easily climb it, then tiled the floors, re-roofed the building and also installed a solar water pump to ensure water availability. Upon seeing this magnificent projects done at the health center, Gosife Age Grade Akwaeze installed 4 pole mounted solar streetlights to ensure nightlights are always ON within the compound. We however heard that a good spirited Akwaeze indigene sponsored some numbers of electronic bed of high standard at the health center.

Now, with the help of commissioner of health – Hon. Dr. Afam Ben OBIDIKE, he initiated landscaping of the health center premises, painting and beautifying look of the facility. He also make sure every facility required to ensure the health center is operating in full capacity as a Primary Health Center is provided.
Nurses and students nurses are readily available for healthcare services at the health center to the Glory of God Almighty.
